Photographic One-to-One Workshops
Individuals or small groups welcome.
I work with you, at your pace, to go through your camera and show you what it can do.
We can cover photography basics and composition ideas as well.
Wildlife, Macro and Landscape are my main areas but I can help with other subjects and of course, the way a camera works can be applied to all subjects.
Castle Drogo Photographic Workshops
Ideal for beginners and improvers, these are ideal 'taster' workshops starting at 11am and running until 3pm with a break for lunch. They are held in the Visitor Centre near the car park (except for 'Along The Riverbank'). After an introduction to photography and to your camera over a cup of tea/coffee, there will be access around the gardens and woods to practice (subject to weather and to work being carried out on site!). The price includes lunch, I will also be available after the workshop if you have any extra questions.
Price is £37 per person - please contact Castle Drogo directly to book.
Stone Lane Gardens Photographic Workshops
These are held at Stone Lane Gardens and can hold up to 10 students (minimum of four people). We meet in the Winter Parking area at 10am, after a cup of tea and an introduction to photography, we will go into the gardens and practice amongst the beautiful planting. Finish will be about 5pm.
25th May - Friday
31st July - Tuesday
18th August - Saturday
6th October - Saturday
6th November - Tuesday
Price is £30 per person and includes tea/coffee and entry to the Gardens but does not include lunch.
If you are interested in coming on a workshop then please do get in touch with your name and email address. If you have a group that would be interested in a workshop then please ask and we can work out an event for you.
Payment will be via cheque prior to the workshop. In the event of the workshop not running due to unforeseen issues or due to lack of numbers you will be offered the choice of a refund or of deferment to the next suitable workshop.
How the One to One Workshop happens (more or less!)
We arrange to meet somewhere with good photographic potential and a cafe of some sort at around 10-11am.
After a brief discussion about what you want to learn, we go through the camera and it's features.
The rest of the day is spent out and about in the location, taking pictures and learning how and what the camera features actually do.
There can be breaks for lunch etc and we can stop at any point to recap what you've learnt. If there is something you find especially tricky then I am more than happy to go over that point again until you are satisfied you understand it fully.
We work at your pace and there is no such thing as a silly question so please feel free to ask anything at any point. After the workshop you are always welcome to email or call if you have a query or would like me to give constructive criticism on photos you have taken.
We carry on until the light goes (or get out the torches for a bit of light painting!) or until you are confident in what you wish to know.
Length is approximately 10am until 6pm
Price is £95 for a one to one session, £150 if you wish to book two sessions or a total of £150 for up to 4 people on the same workshop.
If you would like any variation of the workshop, from time to place to length etc, then please do ask as I will be willing to accommodate any preferences where possible.
