Photographic One-to-One Workshops

Individuals or small groups welcome.

I work with you, at your pace, to go through your camera and show you what it can do.
We can cover photography basics and composition ideas as well.

Wildlife, Macro and Landscape are my main areas but I can help with other subjects and of course, the way a camera works can be applied to all subjects.

Italian Gardens at Great Ambrook - Photographic Workshops

The Italian Gardens at Great Ambrook, near Ipplepen, are a beautiful sleeping garden being reawakened after years of rest. With interesting structures, paths and trees there is plenty to look at.

Ideal for beginners and improvers, these are day workshops starting at 10am and running until 4pm with a break for lunch. They are held in the gardens. After a brief introduction to me, photography and to your camera, we will make our way around the gardens and woods to practice (subject to weather and to work being carried out on site!). The price does not include lunch, so bring a packed lunch or we may arrange to visit a local pub. I will also be available after the workshop if you have any extra questions.

Charcoal Drawing Workshops - Italian Gardens at Great Ambrook

The Italian Gardens at Great Ambrook, near Ipplepen, are a beautiful sleeping garden being reawakened after years of rest. With interesting structures, paths and trees there is plenty to look at.

Slightly different to the photography workshops, here we will use one of the oldest mediums for creating art.  Ideal for beginners and improvers, these are day workshops starting at 10am and running until 4pm with a break for lunch. They are held in the gardens. After a brief introduction to me, the medium of charcoal and the days topic, we will make our way around the gardens and woods to practice (subject to weather and to work being carried out on site!). The price does not include lunch, so bring a packed lunch or we may arrange to viit a local pub. I will also be available after the workshop if you have any extra questions.

How the One to One Workshop happens (more or less!)

We arrange to meet somewhere with good photographic potential and a cafe of some sort.

After a brief discussion about what you want to learn, we go through the camera and it's features.

The rest of the day is spent out and about in the location, taking pictures and learning how and what the camera features actually do.

There can be breaks for lunch etc and we can stop at any point to recap what you've learnt. If there is something you find especially tricky then I am more than happy to go over that point again until you are satisfied you understand it fully.

We work at your pace and there is no such thing as a silly question so please feel free to ask anything at any point. After the workshop you are always welcome to email or call if you have a query or would like me to give constructive criticism on photos you have taken.

Depending on when we start, we can carry on until the light goes (or get out the torches for a bit of light painting!) or until you are confident in what you wish to know.

Length is approximately 10am until 5pm or 12pm until 7pm but I am happy to be flexible.

Price is £95 for a one to one session, £150 if you wish to book two sessions or a total of £150 for up to 4 people on the same workshop.

If you would like any variation of the workshop, from time to place to length etc, then please do ask as I will be willing to accommodate any preferences where possible.
